Term Definition

Veneers are a thin sculpted layer of porcelain applied to the front and top edge of teeth. Porcelain veneers are wonderful because they can drastically improve the position, size, shape and color of the teeth while still maintaining a vital and natural appearance and translucency. Unlike crowns, in most cases only the visible portion of healthy teeth is covered and very conservative removal of tooth structure is required. These beautiful porcelain restorations are fabricated in the dental laboratory and can provide a permanent and dramatic esthetic improvement in just two visits. Veneers are also a great tool to replace highly worn edges of front teeth that have no damage on the back side of them. This not only is beautiful, but supports the function health of the bite. When suggesting veneers, Dr. Kelly considers the outcome and does not take a one size fits all approach.
